Abstract: Reconstruction of buildings and structures, urban areas is an integral process of modern architectural and urban planning. Today, especially on the territory of the post-Soviet space, the objects of urban development and the territories themselves need updating, including medical facilities that are part of the urban environment are no exception. The article is devoted to the study of architectural and town planning conditions that determine the need for the reconstruction of buildings of medical institutions. The approaches that determine the need for the reconstruction of medical institutions have been determined, an algorithm for implementing architectural and town planning approaches affecting the reconstruction process has been proposed.
